New exhibitions at Glitzern

Glitzern is very excited to present 'Chronique Scandaleus' for Spring fashion week. Four jewellery and accessory designers that are, to us, the most exciting, inspirational and funny designers to be emerging from Melbourne. Without giving too much away... barbie will be ripped to shreds, icy pole sticks have been licked clean, crystals that won't cleanse ya shakras have been exposed to the full moon and giant clutches will poke you in the eye.... exhibition runs from 1st September till the 12th in the shop.

Newly arrived from London are llya Fleets beautifully constructed bags and belts.He trained under a master saddle maker and with business partner Resha Sharma started making restrained sculpted pieces for the stylish and classy bondage enthusiast... Amazing! Their work can be seen in every Vogue and good magazine and sold in Colette France.. The concept range of bags we have in store consists of a more restrained and everyday application of Fleets sculptural and surreal forms, they are pieces that will last forever and are exclusive to Glitzern in Australia.

Pretty exciting week here at Glitzern. French and Saunders popped in and French went bananas for food related jewellery and I went bananas for Ms French. Do we bare some resemblance? Chipmunk cheeks. She is however far funnier than me. Especially today after consuming more than my share of CC and dry at our drinks last night. Thanks for coming y'all.

Her debut collection: “For J.D, with love and squalor”, serves as homage to the acclaimed J.D Salinger, writer of the classic piece of fiction “The Catcher In The Rye”.
Using pewter casting of found objects as well as dramatically heavy gold and black metal chains, the collection reinterprets through jewellery design, events and characters of the 1953 book of novels, “For Esme –with love and squalor”. One item of jewellery has been designed for each novel of the book.

As an example, the novel "Down at the Dinghy" tells the story of a mother that only manages to communicate with her young son by pretending that they both are U.S Navy officers: the "Down at the Dinghy" ring is made out of two broken U.S Navy rings (a small and a big one) cast together symbolizing both characters and their attempt at communication
